Access Statement

At the Castle Hotel, we aim to ensure that all of our guests have comfortable facilities and are made to feel welcome. We have developed this access statement to address some of the more common issues that disabled people face. The access statement is intended to provide additional information for all guests who wish to attend the hotel or use its facilities.


The Castle Hotel is independently owned and is part of three establishments within the ‘Taste Inn Wales Group’. It has 19 en suite bedrooms plus a restaurant, bar, and lounges.

Prior to your Arrival

You can contact us via telephone, email, fax and post. The nearest bus stop is situated at the car park adjacent to the Hotel on the main A40 road. The nearest train station is in Llandovery itself, which is approximately a 5-minute walk from the hotel. There are local taxi firms, which we can provide you with details of or book on your behalf if travelling from abroad. We recommend Towy Taxis on 07544 624 411. You will also find a location map on our website. An area map is also available on request at Reception.

Arrival and Car Parking Facilities

There is a private Car Park located at the Hotel free of charge to guests. (There is additional car parking in the public car park adjacent to the hotel and the following charges apply between 8am and 6pm Monday to Saturday, Sunday free of charge: Up to 1 hour, 40p, up to 4 hours, 70p and all day £1.20) We do ask that customers park sensibly allowing other cars to pass. The car park surface is tarmac. We are happy to offer assistance with luggage on request.

Main Entrance and Reception

The Main Entrance leads to Reception, Bar, Lounges and Restaurant. The main entrance is at kerb level with no steps. The entrance has a carpeted flooring with wood edges. The passageway and bar has wood flooring and the lounge areas are carpeted. The main restaurant/breakfast room has wooden flooring. There is a carpeted ramp from the lounge into the restaurant/breakfast room.

Public Areas

Our upstairs corridors are well lit and carpeted. The Bar has wooden flooring throughout. The Restaurant has wooden flooring. There are three doors leading to the Restaurant with three fire exits. There are two doors leading into the Bar area. There are toilets situated on the Ground Floor with one entry door. The fire alarm system is a siren and does not have flashing lights. Assistance will be given in the unlikely event of an evacuation.

Our Restaurant and Lounge Bar

Moveable seating throughout Chairs with and without arms and bar stools. Full Waiter service provided in the restaurant and on request in the Bar Well lit and airy Restaurant, Bar and Lounge Areas. The lounge is made up of armed chairs, sofas and coffee tables


All bedrooms are either on the 1st or 2nd floors and are accessible by stairs. All rooms have showers, some have bath with shower over. Non slip bath mats in bathrooms are made available on request. Additional Notes In line with our other hotels, we intend to apply for AA and Visit Wales Star rating once we have finished our refurbishments, and we are committed to providing a high level of customer service. Whilst the physical limitations of the existing building may impose some constraints on what we are able to do, we fully intend where possible to comply with current regulations and good practice. We have tried to make all the ground floor of the hotel as wheelchair accessible as possible. The nature and grading of the building means it is impossible to allow wheelchair access to bedrooms without the use of stairs. The Castle Hotel aims to ensure that all employees, guests and others are treated equally and according to their needs. Staff training in Disability Awareness is part of the staff development programme, in compliance with the Disability Discrimination Act 1995. We would like to request that anyone with special needs or disabilities contact us prior to arrival in order that we may assist them if they have any specific requirements.
